This new Samsung Galaxy S20 is not a big surprise for us, design-wise, since it looks a lot like the previous version. With a 6.1 inches screen which takes almost all of the screen, we like this design fully dedicated to the visual experience of the user.
You will also notice that the screen is slightly curved on the borders and it is very pleasant when you have the phone in your hand. At first, with this kind of models I was kind of scared to drop the phone somehow. Used to the iPhone sharp edges that make you feel a real grip over the smartphone. But do not fear, this actually never happened and it feels actually better when you use your phone.
Samsung has also decided to made the Galaxy S20 very minimalist with the only USB-C socket and only one speaker. Like many other they have decided to remove the jack port.
And of course, something we almost all use know with our new generation phones : this Galaxy S20 support fingerprint recognition.
Screen wise, we have not been disappointed with a 6.2-inch OLED screen panel drilled at the top. It offers a QHD + definition (3200 × 1440 pixels).
By default the phone is however set to the Full HD+ definition which is 2400×1080 (and already amazing for a phone).
On the top of that, this Galaxy S20 os one of the first phone to offer a 60hz refresh rate. That is a really good news for the world of smartphones and bring us always closer to gaming devices.
If the screen is very bright the only downside we can see with regarding the colors balance due to the OLED panel, but this will really looking for the bug here.
Regarding the OS the Samsung Galaxy S20 comes with Android 10 and Samsung’s One UI 2. This is not really a surprise and anyone who has already use a previous Samsung model will not be lost here !
They have, however, brought little improvement like the fingerprint recognition which works really well and takes only a fraction of second to unlock your phone.
Another new thing is the “Quick Share” system that allows you to… you guessed it, share your files between devices. I am not a huge fan of brand’s dedicated sharing system since you always have restrictions with other devices but if you have only Samsung devices it is usefull.
Performance wise we can see again that this smartphone is definitely made for powerful things, with a nice Mali-G77 MP11 CPU and UP to 12GB of RAM. We would have liked Samsung to go up to 16GB for this but the 12GB offers enough power to manager heavy apps and the 8K video recording.
The camera has 3 sensors going up to 64 Megapixels, with really good pictures during the day and at night. The camera might lack it little bit of depth and focus while you have multiple points in the range but it is ok after all.
